Harlem Noir
Harlem Noir was the first project that YS United collaborated on. The film takes us back to the 1920s follows two opposing crime families and a current feud between Eddie Sullivan and ruthless mafia boss Vic Marconi.
The Chess Scene Explained
In this shot is from a powerful scene from Harlem Noir, where Vic toys with a chessboard while delivering a chilling monologue, threatening to take over Eddie’s son, Joey's life. Each arrangement of pieces on the board represents milestones in Joey's life that Vic promises he won’t miss—unlike Eddie. The chessboard becomes a metaphor for how Vic sees Eddie's life as a game he controls. With a swift swipe of his arm, Vic knocks the pieces off the board, symbolizing his ultimate control, able to erase Eddie’s existence as easily as scattering chess pieces.
